Context
ORRERY is an architecture and urban design practice whose projects range from single pavilions to masterplans spanning decades.
Challenge
Their previous site was a gallery of renders. It showed what the buildings looked like but not how the practice thinks — which was why clients chose them.
Thinking
Architecture is about sequence: approach, threshold, space, light. We treated the website the same way — a deliberate route through each project rather than a grid of images.
Direction
An editorial website where every project unfolds as a narrative of drawings, diagrams and photographs, held together by a strict modular grid taken from the practice’s own drawing standards.
Making
We designed the information architecture, the interface and a component-based design system, and built a fast, accessible site with a structured content model the practice edits themselves.
System
Projects, research and people share one content model, so an essay can reference a building and a building can surface the people who designed it — the site behaves like a connected archive.
Outcome
The practice now publishes projects and research in-house, and the site has become the primary introduction for new clients and collaborators.
Reflection
The most valuable deliverable was the content model, not the visuals. Getting the structure right made every page easier to design.
